The unique features of the MDS system, allows for greater flexibility in design, configuration and material selection to suit specific environments, structural requirements, aesthetics and customer budgets. Each pontoon is designed specifically to suit each particular installation.

The pontoon system is based on rotationally moulded, polyethylene flotation modules and are manufactured from high impact and stress crack resistant polyethylene. The material is U.V stabilised and does not suffer from osmosis or corrosion. Polyethylene flotation modules are virtually indestructible and maintenance free. They are suitable for fresh and saltwater marine environments, along with harsh sewerage, effluent and mining environments.
Standard modules are hollow and are fitted with top entry inspection ports. Modules have the ability of being filled with ballast to increase stability or change the pontoon draft and free board. Modules can also be foam filled for additional security if required.

Pontoon frames are designed to suit the specific design requirements and environment. MDS Marine specialises in aluminium framed systems to suit most industrial requirements. Aluminium frames are fully welded marine grade, structural extrusions. Aluminium frames exhibit excellent corrosion resistance and strength and are most suited to saltwater marine environments and selected mining and effluent environments.
Other pontoon frame options include, hot dipped galvanised steel, epoxy coated steel and stainless steel.

Pontoon decking is available in a number of options to suit specific design requirements and customer preferences. Decking options include: aluminium expanded mesh, aluminium tread plate, galvanised steel grating and expanded mesh, reinforced concrete, FRP grating etc.
